It’s hard to believe that the Grand Theatre’s annual high school production has entered its twentieth season, and harder to believe that I have seen every one of them.
Every year, dozens of students from theatre programs at high schools in Middlesex and three adjacent counties audition for the chance to work with theatre professionals to mount a challenging production and pick up new skills from gifted mentors.
This year they are doing the musical production of Legally Blonde, adapted from a film that starred London-born Victor Garber as the chief villain. I think Garber would be pleased to see how Joel Kennedy tackled and mastered his role as Professor Callahan. He is joined on stage by nearly three dozen of the best high school talents in the region, including Sophia Noguera in the title role, Natalia Martin, Cosette Pin, and Jake Schindler.
